chimney liner size for gas boiler
Hi there – any ideas what diameter liner I’ll need for a gas boiler in a 2 family, 4 story home? We just had a new liner put in for oil boiler + 2 gas hot water heaters – 10″ stainless steel (approved by DOB for dual-fuel). I’m hoping it’ll be sufficient for a gas boiler, too? Any thoughts? Thanks!

call a chimney person to come look. we had a surprise with our oil to gas conversion where our basement filled with smoke and we had to do emergency relining. not fun at all.

Phew – great, thank you both very much! I don’t want to go through the chimney relining process (and cost!) again, so this is good news. 🙂

as long as the gas fired atmospheric vented boiler is approximately the same amount of btus (probably less) than the oil fired unit that you are replacing…no problem

If it’s good for oil, it’s good for gas as long as both boilers are under 85% efficient.
