Anyone have experience dealing with coned and oil-to-gas changes?
so the house in question already had a 1.5″ gas line and the large gas meter, so the licensed plumber just swapped the boiler, recreated the chimney and set the gas boiler to run, no problems. It heats perfectly from day 1… However, on the first bill after that change, the gas delivery rate is 50% higher than the house next door. The owner calls coned to ask why and they said that the billing code for the account needs to change to reflect that its using gas for heat now instead of just for cooking. The second bill comes and the rate is still the same. The owner calls coned again and the rep say that the Energy Services department will get to making the change whenever they can, and that there’s no time frame that can be given for that. They just said to expect a letter in the mail notifying the change in billing code. Seems like its not in coned’s interest to make this happen at all really. What can the owner do to rectify this? The plumber says that you just have to wait for coned and thats it. The first two bills have resulted in $150 more than what they should be and there’s no telling when that will change… At this rate, the owner will have paid $300 more by the time the year is up than they should have.

First check dob website. Find your address and job folder. Then find if you have gas authorization for heating and hot water. If you don’t you will not get con Ed to change your bill rate.
