Hello all! We have a beautiful old mantlepiece on our fireplace, but there was an ugly wooden top slapped on in the 80s. If the above suggestions, all excellent, don’t pan out (I found a slate mantel at Build It Green and they had lots of extra bits and parts there too), mason/chimney/antique mantel restorer and dealer Manny LaSalle might also have something that fits. He had exactly the right parts for my slate mantel that were missing.
