Stackable washer/dryer - model recommendations?

I’m interested in recommendations for a non-basement stackable washer / dryer –  we are looking for a stackable w/d for our top/third floor next to our bedrooms, in what used to be a kitchen, and it’s a very old brownstone and I’m worried about vibration and noise and also it seems that few manufacturers make machines that are built to last anymore. I’d be most interested in recommendations for units that ideally that has been purchased not too long ago or have either stood the test of time or where the company has been good to deal with if problems arose. From my research so far: Apparently the Electrolux is best for higher floors but I can’t get past the “no handles on the doors” thing, it bothered me a lot in the store and I don’t think I’d get used to it. I personally like the LG the best but have heard they are not good when things go wrong. I’ve got a friend who loves their Samsung, but similarly hear they are terrible to deal with if problems arise.  Whirlpool Duet is quiet according to Consumer Reports but not quiet according to the reviews.  It’s so hard to buy appliances these days, few are universally beloved.

My apartment building has a Maytag from Mac-Gray[/L]. and we have always been very pleased with the machine. It is very reliable.

Miele has electric dryers only. They had some problems with gas dryers and don’t make them anymore

I have the larger Bosch front-loader and am happy with it, except it’s a pretty big footprint. The next smaller size is more compact. Both have stackable dryers.

OP here, I can’t find a Miele gas dryer (at least on aj madison’s website), so not sure I’ll find a Miele, plus the w/d for Miele almost doubles the price (I guess that makes sense since the dishwasher is almost double for Miele as well, but at least that’s not as crazy pricy).  I’ve since checked reviews from the various manufacturers and it seems they all fall apart these days.  Someone else recommended a Frigidaire, and that’s a slightly lower price point.

We purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer (stackable) from Drimmers almost 2 years ago. Drimmers came highly recommneded and we’re completely pleased with our w/d. It’s probably not the right one for your needs, since ours in on the ground floor, but Drimmers sells them to lots of apartment buildings so call them. We worked with Ira.

We installed Miele stackable units in our apartment here in the city and have Bosch stackable units in our second home. We’ve had both for about 3 years and no issues or vibrations as of yet.

We recently bought the LG stackable WM3470 (gas dryer.) We are on a top floor of an old building. I like the machines but they do vibrate quite a lot, especially when the spin cycle is above medium or with a heavier load. There are some ways to mitigate this problem– you can install rubber pads on the feet (Home Depot sells some) or even lay some rubber type thing fully underneath. We did not do it and still might. One thing we had to do was install some sticky double sided tape under a galvanized steel pan that our machines sit in. This pan is in case of a leak and we have an auto shut off/water sensor device. The device works well because once I did have some overflow due to drainage (it was not a problem with the machine but with the drainage line) and it shut off just as you’d want it to. This device is called “FloodStop” FS3/4H-90 and seems a wise thing for an upper floor of an old brownstone. But back to the machines– I did a lot of research and am happy with these, but it’s only been about 6 months so far. Other than the spin cycle they are pretty quiet, wash & dry well, and have many options. Good luck!

We are doing the same thing (kitchen to laundry) and we are going with Miele because of the smaller footprint and reliability. We have an LG in the basement for 5 years and we are very happy with it, but they are big and there is vibration.

My wife loves our LG front loaders (stacked) but they are on the larger side.  I’m laundry machine agnostic and couldn’t care less as long as it works (my previous washer dryer combo were each about 25 years old and had exactly 2 settings lol.) Anyway the LG’s are relatively new (in use a little more than a year) and low noise, low vibration for the most part. If you overload the washer it WILL let you know, with some unpleasant low frequency noises and vibration through the floor – but you get the knack for the largest size it’s happy with and there’s no intrusive noises then.
