Source for discounted appliances

We’re in contract on a one-bedroom apartment in Boerum Hill.  The kitchen (including appliances) is dated, but very much usable, so we’re planning to wait a bit before we renovate.  Having the luxury of time, we’d like to keep our eyes open for terrific deals on reasonably nice appliances.  We’d love to hear about any particular sources that people follow to look out for good deals on a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc. Thanks!

TRY http://www.ajmadison.com/ they have good prices. PRINT out the quote from their website, then go to PC RICHARD AND SON and ask them to match the price with free delivery. pc richard and son will deliver the item to your kitchen and you would get it for the same price as ajmadison. hope this helps.

I get all my appliances from Appliances Buy Phone.  appliancesbuyphone.com or 888-828-3302\.  They are in NJ and will match any price you can find locally.  They offer free delivery on items over $300 and they do not charge sales tax.  Next day delivery and very easy to deal with.

Drimmer A&B Appliances on Coney Island Ave has good prices generally.  Really good deals are when they move the floor samples.  Never know when it’s happening, but you can get hi end stuff at mid range prices.   Have purchased Liebherr fridges, Viking stoves and Miele W/D at close to 40% off.

I agree with goatcrap.  I’ve been buying appliances since 1985\.  Watch for the seasonal sales at the big places…july 4, Labor Day, Columbus Day, etc, etc.  All the appliances are virtuyally the same….at Sears, at lowe’s at HD and at PC Richard.

since you have the luxury of time – wait until black friday, and look at home depot or pc richards.  I was getting equally good deals at both places, but went with home depot, because the salesmen at pc richard were too interested in selling TV’s to doorbusters, than they were to selling me 3 full kitchens for my building update.  I didn’t shop bottom dollar items, opting for some better stuff to put in the kitchens, but after the stacked discounts, paid less than what the loss leaders normally go for.

Craiglist has a “for sale” section for appliances — there’s a lot of beaten up junk there, but there are also new or newish nice items pretty often, sometimes from shady-sounding outfits but sometimes from makeovers or showrooms.
