Issues with Bosch

We installed a Bosch 24″ washer during our apartment reno last year.  From the beginning it never worked quite right; sometimes it would work OK but most of the time it would not run water or if it did, would quit mid-cycle and start beeping.  We had Bosch service techs out a couple of times in the first few months. The first one blamed our automatic leak shutoff valve, which to us seemed to work fine. The second one blamed a kinked water line.  Our contractor said it wasn’t the plumbing.

Finally, in June, the machine died completely. We had to call the contractor back in at our expense to check the plumbing.  He once again gave the all clear; the plumbing was fine.  The Bosch repairman came, FINALLY admitted that the problem was with the washer, and said he needed to order a new pump and control board.  That was four weeks ago. At first Bosch said the parts would come right away. Then they said they would come soon. Then they said they weren’t sure when the parts would come. When we asked them to commit to something, they said they’d fix the washer by August 5 or they’d exchange it for a new one. Today they called again, said the parts wouldn’t come till sometime next week, but told us they wouldn’t give us a new machine after all — rather, they’d see what they could do about fixing it next week.  I’m not holding my breath.

Any ideas for how to put pressure on these people to give us a new washer or get this thing fixed?  The poor service has been unbelievable.

And incidentally — Bosch has admitted for weeks now (after denying for months) that the issues are with the pump, etc.  It has simply taken forever for them to do what it takes to fix or replace the thing.

An update: the Bosch techs have been back, still haven’t been able to fix the washer, and STILL haven’t offered us a new one (though they said if/when they manage to fix the old one they’ll extend the warranty an extra year).  We have not been able to use our washer at all for many weeks now.  I don’t care how well Bosch appliances work when they’re not on the fritz — if the service is this poor I’m not going to risk buying another one ever again.

Yeah, it sounds like Bosch should just replace it if it never really worked.

I’d like to add that our Bosch (only had this one 5ish months) has been wonderful.  It takes forever to run a load but it’s quiet and gets a huge amount of stuff clean in that time.  At our last apartment, we had a similar model that had been there for years and there seemed to be nothing it couldn’t clean.  I’m a fan at this point, but based on the hundreds of reviews I read on the different brands before purchasing the one we have now, all the brands seem to have their share of duds.  Sorry you’e got one :/  We just got rid of  GE one that all the salesmen said is the best seller–ours hardly cleaned anything and it was just a few years old.

I wouldn’t rule out Bosch for eternity. There are plenty of very satisfied Bosch customers. You could have gotten a lemon or possibly the dishwasher wasn’t properly installed from the get-go. Unfortunately no one likes to accept blame when something is not working. 
If you have copies/records of the service report gather them and call back Bosch. Try and speak with a manager/superior. 
You might also try going back to the place you bought it from and have them get in touch with their Bosch sales representative. If you have the service reports and your phone number is associated with them, the Bosch rep should be able to pull strings for you. Gotta hit up Bosch from every which way.

Thanks for the response, Levi.  I wish I could substitute another brand.  Not many manufacturers make the small stackable units, though.  I would definitely prefer a full replacement to a repair — this one is clearly a lemon and I don’t want to wait the months it apparently takes Bosch to identify and fix a problem the next time something goes wrong. 

I have a Bosch dishwasher, too — heaven forbid that goes on the fritz, I’ll end up spending all of my free time washing dishes and carting around my laundry! 

At this point I’ll likely never buy a Bosch appliance again.  I expected much better from them.

I don’t have advice but I just want to add that my Bosch dishwasher died after 4 months and I’ll have to wait over 2 weeks for them to come out for repair. There’s a full load of dirty dishes in there that I’ll now have to do by hand. The horror!!

 At this point I would not settle for repairs. You deserve a new machine or a full refund. To give you a good example- I have a customer who bought a Liebherr refrigerator for $4000 and change. It has given her problems from day 1\. After many complaints Liebherr is giving me (the re-seller) a full refund on the fridge and she is now using the money to buy a GE Monogram. 
The point is if you a persistent the manufacturer will give in. Repairs it seem will return to haunt you in the future.
