Appliance repairs
My fiance had a small fire yesterday in the oven in our kitchen. It’s a GE Profile freestanding gas range. He burned a pizza box in the oven. He put it out using a Kidde fire extinguisher, but now we’re left with the cleanup. I was wondering if anyone knows a good, reputable appliance repair service/person. I’d like to have it cleaned professionally (since charred box and chemicals from the fire extinguisher got into the grates at the bottom of the oven where heat is generated). I’m concerned about using the oven now with chemicals from the extinguisher. I spoke with Kidde (the extinguisher manufacturer) and they suggested soap and water for the interior, but had no advice for how to get to the chemicals/ashes in the base of the oven. Any advice is appreciated.

It shouldn’t take a repair person to clean the oven. Open up what you can, clkean it and then run the oven to disapate what’s left. Next time you have an over fire, just throw in baking soda and watch it extinguish.
