Any one use trash compactors in their home?

We are will be moving into a two family brownstone once we renovate both the tenant’s and our kitchens. Our bedroom will be in the front of the garden floor. I was hoping to add more greenery to the front yard and to get rid of some of the garbage pails that will be directly outside our bedroom window. I’ve been thinking of adding two compactors to each kitchen, one for general garbage and one for plastic and tin can recycling. I’m hoping to reduce the volume that goes out front. Buying two units for each apartment will be expensive but I’m thinking the benefits will outweigh the costs. Anyone have any experience with compactors they’d like to share?

To begin with, two families just don’t produce that much trash. Secondly, agree with Lurker. If renovating, your money will be better spent locating your bedroom at the back of the house.

Not an answer, but just as a head’s up using a compactor for recyclables like alum deposit cans and bottles renders them valueless. You may not care either way.
