Who paints kitchen cabinets?

Thanks everyone. I guess I need to get one of these companies out to look at it. I know a lot of it (like the large island with a huge slab of granite on top) cannot be moved safely so whoever does it does need to be able to work in place. I’ve not really paid a ton of attention to the cabinets, but I feel like they might not be solid wood, maybe they have a veneer on them. It’s hard to tell. When new, I think they must have looked phenomenal, but they are so light that they show every ding and stain and I think they are only only 7 or 8 years old, not older stuff that’s more likely to be solid wood. I will never choose to have white or very light cabinets!

I don’t love the color of the cabinets we inherited. There is a lot of cabinetry, including the same paneling around a stationary island, and it’s not stained wood but painted, maybe with a glaze. Is it possible to have it all painted in place and done well? I’m thinking maybe someone would cover everything else and spray but I really don’t know where to start or who to call for this. Any advice or recommendations on who can do this is welcome.

we used to do a bit of this work and would still consider it if it were our slow season. You do not necessarily have to have them sprayed to have them done right. what you need is someone who will properly sand them down to the really good and stable finish and sand them to no finer than 120 grit (any finer and they may peel). then properly prime them and use a quality finish which can be rubbed out. something that works really well is Ben Moore Satin Impervo (oil). When sanding between coats and even sanded with very fine paper a few days after the last coat, the impervo looks as though it was sprayed. Also, General Finishes makes product for this application that looks sprayed as well. It is the process and the application that will make or break this project. Steve

Can all of this be done in place? A lot of the surfaces can’t be taken out to do this.

someone with a dust free sanding system should be able to do all of that in place. now it is better to remove the doors and it would move faster with them being done off site. i would call those folks who replied and talk to them and tell them you want it done in place. Steve
