What is going on with the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Bushwick Ave

I just spoke to the architect and this rumor is false, I am pleased to report. The church and school next door will not be torn down. They will be converted to rental apartments (not condos). This property was never landmarked.

There is new scaffolding going up around the St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Some of the neighborhood guys that run the K-9 training facility across the street said that it lost it’s landmark status and it is going to be torn down. There were rumors that the developers were going to maintain the churches structure and turn it into high end lofts, but now word on the street is that they are going to demo it. Anyone know what is really going on with the building?
