Time to make the switch from 2 br to 3 in park slope vicinity?

Hi Need some advice. I’m in a two br in park slope and hope to find a bigger place (3 br, duplex if possible) around this area. There seem to be very few units within my budget of 1.7m. I have several concerns 1) is this the right time to make that move. 2). Is the Atlantic yard going forwArd? 3). Is it safe to live in the southern part of south slope. I have a toddler. Thank you

Yes, I still see comps for 1.7 or less for 1500-2000 sf houses in S. Slope and WT. Perhaps even better value in greenwood. LOTS of young families in Greenwood.

Really, this post is so naive it sounds almost like troll-baiting. Maybe it is and I shouldn’t be baited. There are 3 bedrooms in Park Slope for under or around 1.7\. There shouldn’t be many 3 bedrooms above 1.8 if what you are looking for is an apartment. The inventory of 3 bedrooms is not bigger because it is not a common type of property in the area. Floor-through apartments in brownstones are usually 2 bedrooms and clock in at 1000 to 1200 sq ft. There are a few Co-Ops with bigger apartments on 8th ave, but many of the biggest apartments are on really luxurious and renowned buildings on PPW such as 9 PPW, and yes, a 3 bedroom there would be more like 2.5 o 3M. But that’s a movie star worthy kind of building. Even so, there is a 3 bedroom there under contract right now for 1.85 which looks to be around 1800 sqft, but it is on the 1st floor. So don’t despair, very rich people can still live OK. And yes, the South Slope is lovely, safe, and with good schools. And lately, with rich people, too. You can buy a whole house, although a small one, there for under 2M. Maybe even 1.5 if you go for a really small house.

There are many 3 bedrooms in south slope for under 1.7m. We bought a house for substantially less than that and could update it pretty well budget. South slope is perfectly safe- we plan to raise children there (we’re even FARTHER south in, gasp, GREENWOOD!) Is it the right time to make a move? Only you can decide that. Go explore the area you’re considering and buckle up- buying property in that neighborhood is an adventure, to say the least.
