Does anyone know – are stainless steel cable railings permitted on interior staircases in Brooklyn? Or would that be a code violation?

We’ve used them without any issues. Do be aware that code restricts any gap between balusters or cables to 4″ or less. With a cable railing, there’s always some play in the cables, so you’ll need to space the cables so that when you pull them apart, there is less than 4″ between cables. Cable railing manufacturers can give you guidance on what the spacing should be depending on the cable diameter and baluster spacing. jcarch ———————— James Cleary Architecture brownstoner.staging.wpengine.com/jamescleary

Some think they are an aesthetic violation…
