Self Certifying Objection

Thanks Again Carmenf, That sounds like some incredibly sound advise. One of the projects is the legalization of a 2-Car Garage, where we were allowed 500 SF, in queens where the height & drywell location are a little questionable. The second is a conversion from 2-Fam to 3-Fam, where the ADA requirements are a little questionable regarding the garage door, ramp & accessible parking in flushing. Hello Brown stoners, I have received every possible objection on a project & am ready to “Self Certify The Objections”. Just not sure what forms to use or what needs to go on the AI1 Form. It is an ALT 1, & the C of O is changing. Does the Directive 14 change as well. Any help would be greatly Appreciated Thank You Jeff

Is it a good idea to self certify an alt1? Serious question, I didn’t know an architect could self cert objections for an alt1.

Thanks for your response carmenf, From what I’ve been told, you can, but probably wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion. Your correct about questioning self certifying an alt1, but we are comfortable with satisfying all the objections properly, so even if audited, we will have complied with al of DOB’S concerns. I would try to find someone who has self certified before. Given that it’s an Alt1 and there are some pretty hefty fines and repercussions for things not being approved, I would tread lightly. Our architect mentioned that he wouldn’t self certify on an Alt1 because he could risk losing the ability to self-cert if the DOB finds a certain number of things wrong after the fact, and considering that we had 15 pages of objections over the course of 6 reviews…. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t have figured out a way to hit us with something if they wanted to.
