Nee Insulation Recommendations

Hi Need crawl space under roof insulated. Does anyone have any product and company recommendations. I am interested in something non-toxic like cellulose. If you have had insulation put in, do you feel that it has made a difference. Thank you.

I used Federal too and was pleased. Same price. It makes an immediate difference in the winter.

I used Federal Conservation about 4 years ago to blow fiberglass into our cockloft. I dealt with Joey, 631 923-0470\. I found the crew very professional. It made a difference both in the summer and winter. I can’t put a dollar amount on it, but we clearly used less heat and a/c. It cost $2,200 for an approx. 18 x 55 roof. I think I got the recommendation from a post on Brownstoner. Good luck.

I have no specific product or company recommendations, since I had cellulose insulation blown into my house’s cockloft [the correct name for what you call the “crawl space under roof”] long ago, but it definitely made a very big difference. Cellulose is an excellent choice. I had the insulation done in the late ’70s, through a program run by Brooklyn Union Gas, the predecessor of National Grid. They were supposed to use fiberglass, but substituted cellulose because of a nation-wide fiberglass shortage. In retrospect I’m happy about the substitution because small amounts filtered down through top floor door casings for years and fiberglass would have been physically irritating, while cellulose is harmless.
