Multifamily Townhouse Utilites?

I’ve seen estimates in multifamily listings from brokers that do investment property sales with something like Fuel: $1.25 per residential sq. ft. Electric: $.15 per res. sq. ft. (for common area elec.) As resident2 says, this can only be a very rough estimate and it depends on many variables like those above, as well as oil vs. gas, attached vs. semi-attached vs. detached, etc.

This is far too broad a question without some specifics: New thermal pane windows? Old sashes, storm windows. Heating system: Forced hot Air? Circulating hot water? Insulation? As for hot water: How many people taking showers? Hot water does cost quite a lot, so yes it makes a big difference how many people live in the place…..Jacuzzi’s or showers? Electricity? again…..I know some people that spend no more than $100 a month but the same size house next door costs over $2,000 a month in the summer…..but still $1,000 in the winter because they leave lights on and have over 20 light bulbs in all their fancy fixtures on the parlor floor alone!
