How to remove a fireplace mantel ?
And installing. And hauling. The pieces are incredibly heavy. I wouldn’t recommend putting them in a regular car.

If it is in good shape, call one of the architectural salvage places and they will come and take it. They will probably not give you any money for it unless it is extremely unique or fabulous, but you will not incur any cost of removing it or disposing of it. An in experienced person will most likely break it, so do not try it yourself, unless you do not care about breaking it. I am surprised that one of the salvage, re-use people have not responded yet.

I also see that you have a post looking for a fireplace. Is this question regarding that you have found one, that you now want moved? In which case call one of the fireplace guys that do Brownstone relining flues etc. I believe Apple or it may have been AAA Fireplaces moved one for me many years ago and then re-installed it in my new (old) house.
