Dirt removal

After some intense landscaping in the front and backyard, I now have approx 10cf of dirt that I need removed – it’s packaged into 6 large trash bags sitting in front of my brownstone but is heavy and awkward to move. (Dirt is standard garden dirt, no toxic stuff.) Any suggestions on someone I could pay to pick up / haul away this stuff?

While a small amount of dirt added to tree pits might be a good thing, mounding soil up around a tree is harmful. Probably best to ask permission first and use common sense.

@rick, i’ve rarely seen a tree bed that needed more dirt. i’m saying, i wouldn’t appreciate having to clean up your dirt that spills over onto my sidewalk. what if people have plants in the tree bed? or seeds? the base of the trunk should not be blocked. it’s just not a good idea.

@rick, you might as well just dump it on a corner instead of inconveniencing owners with your problem. craigslist or putting out a few bags at time are your best options.

I suggest you make sure the bags are manageable and list on Craigslist. Years ago I got loads of soil through Craigslist.

If you put the bags out two at a time, on the regular collection day, Sanitation will take them. They’re SUPPOSED to take up to six, it that will never happen.
