Crown Heights - Schenectady Ave and Utica

I have a friend who bought in Crown Heights on Albany, just north of Atlantic and across from the Albany Houses. Nice house, not much curb appeal given it’s location, but they have three young kids and he has not told me of any issues regarding crime or safety concerns. I believe they have been there for 2-3 years. Not quite where you speak of, but in the general area. As many have said in similar posts, and we did the same when we bought in our neighborhood, you need to drive/walk the area during various times of the day and days of the week to get a feel for yourself. Your sense of “safe” may be very different from someone else’s.

Hi, I’m seeing a lot of properties come up for sale near Schenectady and Utica Aves in Crown Heights, north of Eastern Parkway towards Bed-Stuy. The crime maps show it to be a violent crime area, but I’m looking for feedback on quality of life around there from people who actually live there. Everytime I’m out that way, seems pretty quiet, but it’s cold outside so maybe it’s just the season! Your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
