Contractor for building entrance renovation needed

It seems you have a very simplified federal or colonial revival entryway. I would recommend carefully removing the existing aluminum fascia first in order to assess the condition of wooden trimwork underneath. You are probably not going to be able to obtain “prefabricated” trimwork that will match, or be proportionately appropriate for the entryway. While it appears to be in very bad shape it may be possible to salvage some of the existing elements. Abatron (www.abatron.com) has epoxy restoration systems for wood that work very well, we use their products frequently. From your photo the probably fluted columns may be ok with just the base blocks rotted out. As for the cornice there may be restoreable elements. Column capitals, crown, and other moldings were probably removed to allow for installation of the alumninum fascia. All of this trimwork can be custom replicated at reasonable cost. Is the roof above the entryway in good condition? You will definitely need new flashings at the curb where the iron railing is located, and probably new pitch pockets for the railing posts. As this is basic maintenance work, it should not require permitting. As far as scaffolding it does not require anything major just simple pipe scaffolding that your contractor should be able to provide.

We are looking for a contractor who can take on the following: dismantling the old molding/cornice/ that is under the deteriorated metal covers around the entrance area, and replacing it with prefabricated molding. Possibly help figure out exactly what to order as replacement as well, and get the needed scaffolding and permits. Any leads? Thanks so much.
