Bathroom renovation and ADA compliance?

I’m hoping to renovate our very tiny (46″x 80″) bathroom in our co-op apartment. Since the bathroom is quite small, we’d like to add some square footage and create a standard 5’x7′ bathroom. We will not change the bathroom door or fixture locations, but we hope to move a wall. If we move a wall, will we need to comply with ADA requirements of LL 58/87? Our architect is concerned that by moving a wall, the ADA requirements will need to be addressed (even though it would be impossible to create a large enough bathroom to accommodate ADA size requirements).
