The basement room in my apartment has wall-to-wall carpeting. Under the carpet and some layers, there is concrete. I am looking for a reliable concrete company that will tear up the carpet, clean, seal (if necessary) and polish the concrete floor. Do you know any companies?

I can wholeheartedly recommend Robert Rowen, who did our concrete floors last fall. He is incredibly professional in demeanor and skills. I interviewed a few different people; Robert’s quote was quite reasonable (more than some, less than others), he seemed to know more than most, and he just seemed the most professional. He did the job with a young man as an assistant (I can’t recall his name)–and he, too, was very professional.

And btw, do know that polishing concrete, assuming you want it to be interior-quality, is not cheap. The process is quite labor-intensive and the equipment is quite specialized, so it requires real skill, time, and money…
