Has anyone had their 421a tax abatement application (filed July 2007) rejected from HPD? I was told mine was, but the consulting company (HFC)has done nothing to cure the original defects in the app. The HPD insists that I am not the “client” but rather the developer is and HFC.

I cannot get a copy of the “file” since despite being the owner of the home for 3 years, I have no right to it.

Anyone else have this problem with 421a apps?

  1. Just yesterday I got the certificate for a small building in brooklyn after many many months of waiting.

This was my second certificate and was a messy one because it was originally filed by someone who didn’t fully know how to do it.

The company i used had to first request the old file (originally filed by the builder), then prepare all the docs that were missing and finally re-file.

Bare in mind that some of the documents required for the submission must come from the original builder.

Also be prepared for this to take a long time. (up to 24 months in some cases)

That said, as long as the original filing was done on time and you can put together all the required docs, there should be no reason for not getting the certificate.

As you probably know the certificate is retroactive so once is all done, you will also get a big check from the city for all the taxes paid from the beginning up to the day you receive the certificate.

    The company i used is:
