We need to move into an affordable neighborhood so we are hoping for a good district G&T since BSI will probably be out the questions and district 15 is too rich for our pockets. TIA

  1. Several schools in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights are excellent, although PS185 dropped the G&T program last year. PS102 still offers it. We moved to Bay Ridge for the schools actually (decent middle and high school too). From experience I can say that if the school is excellent overall, there isn’t much of a difference in the G&T vs. General Ed programs though.

  2. Thankfully my NYC school seeking days are over too (just that little thing about college left to worry about for my kids). Hard to get answers to such a broad question, but I’d look at the city’s list of schools with G&T classes

and read up on the schools in places where you can see reviews and feedback from parents, like insideschools.org.

  3. OP here: I plan on finding a good general ed in a district that also has good G&T’s. My general ed will be my back up plan, if we do not snag a good G&T program. Unfortunately I can not afford park slope, cobble hill or many other district 15 neighborhoods. In addition I did not mean to be cryptic I assumed everyone knew what G&T and BSI was. I see that is not the case so I apologize for any error on my part. I am just a parent trying to get the best education for my child that I can afford.

  4. Thank you cupotea; I guess that’s very hard to get into, BUT the commute is MUCH shorter than Sofia. It wouldn’t be right to send a school age child to the Balkans every day 🙂 And, kidding aside, I wish the OP luck–I’m SOOOO glad our school seeking days are behind us.

  5. Brooklyn School of Inquiry, a city-wide Gifted and Talented program in District 20 – -so children have to score at 97th percentile and above AND get selected by lottery to get it.

  6. While the OP is being un-necessarily cryptic I suspect, based on the “district 15” reference, that “G&T” means gifted and talented program.
