Has anyone used any of the soundproof window companies mentioned here, Cityproof or City soundproofing? Do they work? The first one suggests interior windows with extended frames added to your own windows. Are you able to open them?

  1. people recommended to use hurricane windows or “laminated glass” windows for soundproofing.

  2. Cityproof installed my windows but now it is impossible to clean them or change the window balances. They are good and keep the noise out but they are dirty most of the year. I would NOT recommend.

  3. Not sure about City Soundproofing, but Cityproof and Citiquiet are two vendors that fabricate and install interior soundproof window systems. They definitely work and can eliminate approximately 90% of the noise coming through your windows. These systems come in a variety of different configurations including double hung, sliders, picture windows, casements, etc. Somethings to think about, Air conditioning (if you use window AC the windows are useless), window treatments (might have to be moved), aesthetic (two sets of windows can be unsightly), and operation (you now have to operate two windows to get fresh air).

In lieu of an interior window system, new primary windows can be installed with sound attenuating glass, or your existing windows can be re-glazed with new sound attenuating glass. There is always more than 1 way to skin a cat. Good luck with the project.
