I am planning a kitchen renovation and would like recommendations for a reasonably priced, high quality kitchen cabinet maker. I am interested in a classic quaker style cabinet. Ideally, it would be high-end quality for ikea prices. Realistically, I will be happy with high-end quality and moderate pricing.

I am also looking for a cabinetmaker who can build a modern-style entertainment cabinet.

Any suggestions?

  1. when you figure out how to buy a bentley for the price of a honda let me know.

i want one for the price of a yugo, but i’m being realistic. i’m willing to pay honda prices.

  2. You simply can’t get high end custom cabinets at IKEA prices, so you are on a wild goose chase. The good news is that IKEA cabinet boxes are actually quite solid and well constructed. You should consider finding someone who can install IKEA boxes (properly) with custom trim and doors.

  3. Sounds like you’re looking for flush inset doors. I don’t have a rec for a carpenter, but “Bungalow Kitchens” by Jane Powell has a blueprint type diagram of a typical teens or 20s built-in in this style, an overview of the many possible door face variations, and many, many pictures to show your cabinet maker. The author also claims that having these types of simple cabinets custom made is not more expensive then the typical current “semi-custom” cabinets with all the bells and whistles.

  4. Keep, you should give Jason at KF Kitchen Cabinets a call at (718) 237-5800. He built a vanity for me and is now about to start some kitchen work as well. Great quality, very reasonable prices, awesome guy to work with. Just a thought.

    Good luck,
    Jesse

  5. Had my kitchen remodeled by Gerrard and Ryu at Brooklyn Artisan last spring. I gave them a few pictures of classic designs I like, and they were able to apply it to our 20’x 20’space. I was pleased with the quality and style and they’re super easy to work with. Email is info@brooklynartisan.com
