Please give me your feedback about Gateway company that charges minimum charge $225 and trip charge? Are they so good?

  1. “Unfortunately, what I will not allow my participation on Brownstoner to become is a means to extortion” — I am not sure what you are implying with this post but suffice it to say I was never interested in receiving anything from you other than the decency of an explanation of your exorbitant and unnecessary charges.

“I could contact your building and fix your system on your terms…”, nor did I ask you to “contact my building” or have any idea what “my terms”, are. Given that I am the customer who wrote you the check in good faith, I am not sure why you think I would want you to contact anyone other than me. All I wanted was to speak to you personally about the job you did in my home.

It seems to me your refusal to return my phone call on the day of the visit and the off line emails I sent to you subsequently speaks loud and clear. You seem to be only interested in posting on line. Dealing one on one with a real customer is not a part of your client services.

“…at this point, I much prefer to leave you in the semi-capable hands of my competition instead”. Wow that is harsh. It is rather sad that you think you are the only plumber who has the skills to fix this or any problem. You show your true colors here.

  2. I’ve written a few books about heating and I think the Master and his team are as good as it gets – true professionals who get it right the first time.

And isn’t that what you want?

So, to answer the poster’s question, “Are they so good?”

    Yep.

Not sure what you are trying to imply but i am no longer interested in you or your “service”. By the way, no one asked you to contact “my building”. I am the customer who wrote you the check and (as i have said throughout all this), only wanted to get an honest answer from you to a question i had about the work you did. You had the chance to fix my problem the two times your mechanic came to my home but instead of offering the sage advice you seem so good at on line, you shut down and closed all communication by not returning my call or emails and chose instead to hide behind your posts. I will be content to let the facts speak for themselves at this point.

It is too bad you have such a low opinion of other plumbers. What an large ego you seem to have. Suffice it to say there are other very capable folks out there besides you. I have found someone and the problem has been fixed.

    Thanks “master plumber” …sheesh.

  4. Hmm, sorry for the error, MP. When one of your guys came out to my apt recently, he said the Master who is all over Brownstoner was in NJ. But either way, I appreciate your posts here, and your guy who came out to my apt was terrific, too!

  5. note that master plvmber who responds on this list isn’t the actual guy who will likely come out to your house… from what my Gateway plumber told me, the master stays mostly in jersey.

in my experience, the guys from gateway are very good–very professional and know their stuff. but hella, hella expensive!! i decided that in the future, i’ll use them if i have something serious that i want really done right, but if it’s something simple, i will definitely call someone more affordable.

  6. Wow, what a busy day today on all fronts.

Thank you to those who’ve left such positive comments. It’s a great feeling to know people are still reading my stuff. I put a lot into trying to make my answers make sense to an interested layperson and it’s actually a good exercise for when I’m standing in someone’s living room or writing a proposal.

I’m sure it’s no secret that my participation on this forum is ultimately self-serving, but I do hope my posts have brought you to a clearer understanding of how your mechanical systems function and what keeps them working.

I’m no stranger to taking some lumps from time to time, but thanks again for your help responding to this anonymous original poster, whatever their intentions.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all,

  7. Ms. Kirsch,
I’m sorry that you’re anything less than very happy with our service. Unfortunately, what I will not allow my participation on Brownstoner to become is a means to extortion.
I could contact your building and fix your system on your terms, but at this point, I much prefer to leave you in the semi-capable hands of my competition instead.
