I was going to put in a Corian kitchen countertop in an Apartment I am trying to sell but my contractor says Corian is not high end anymore! He says that if I want a selling point I better go with granite or marble. Is this true?

  1. I think until now Corian still be the one of high end material. And if your Corian kitchen countertop still appropriate with your decor, it’s still good.

  2. Corian has actually made a comeback for a certain sleek modern look. It’s a good material, as are the quartz composites but if your tastes or existing cabinetry run to toward traditional, I’d go for a granite as the simulated natural stone always screams fake to me. I’m not fond of granite and if it were my design project, I’d probably pick another stone, but granite is pretty safe. That said, Mopar pretty much stated the same thing in a more succinct fashion.

  3. I have corian countertops and I really like them – 9 years old and still in perfect condition.
However if I were to renovate, I would at least consider something else.

  4. Another vite for Silestone. Our “leather” finish Silestone kitchen countertop is gorgeous and looks so much better than granite or marble, aside from being incredibly durable and, as laNevaTile pointed out, maintenence-free. Our kitchen reno was 5+ years ago and it still looks brand new to us every day.

  5. I agree with Susan- The quartz composite materials are some of the most unique right now. There are many companies who produce quartz composite such as Cambria, Silestone and Caesarstone. These are maintenance free products (and a huge selling point), unlike natural stone or Corian.

  6. Ceasarstone is a somewhat less expensive alternative to marble/granite and looks great.
