We are working with an expediter via our architect on our Alt 2 project. Our architect says it has been filed at least three weeks ago, but so for no sign of anything on the DOB BIS system. We are told this is because no plan examiner has been assigned. Does this make any sense? TIA

Old news confirming that we have a multi-level dysfunctional and blame the other guy attitude agenct throughout all levels. Twilight zone ? no. everyone is afraid from the other guy within the agency ? yes. What is if someone will decide in 165 years that you need a sprinkler ? put it in. thats the attitude.

  2. I am in the process of renovating three buildings. The experience is like the twilight zone. One building was completely finished and it was re-inspected by another DOB unit from Queens, who wanted a sprinkler. This is after everything is done. My architect told me that I would never have to put in a sprinkler. Six months later, after numerous meetings, they decided “no sprinkler”. At first I used to think that the Architect was bullshitting me, but no it really is the twilight zone down there.

  3. a job no. should still be on file. if it shows a/p entire then it is waiting ti be sent to an examiner. otherwise, it is not filed.

  4. This happened to a new two-family building I recently filed. It took almost a month before it was assigned to a plan examiner. After that it was almost another month before we had comments. The Brooklyn DOB seems to be a bit overwhelmed these days.

  5. Follow-up question: Would the DOB give a receipt to filings so that me as owner can ask architect/expediter for receipt of filing? TIA

  6. They have 30 days to review, so it should have been assigned to an examiner.
