I saw a post of someone wanting a chicken coop.
I built this one. It’s about 2 x 7 ft.
It has 3 levels with ramps leading up each level. The entry ramp is on a pulley and closes at night.
The bottom level is a run, the second level has nesting boxes and the top has a stoop with litter boxes beneith it.
This is great for people who like excellent eggs.

  1. Thanks for the comments everyone. You’re right, they are alot of work…. well they use to be. I had to modify the coop and make it more human friendly too. Now I have doubled the litter boxes and made it more accessable. The water nipples I installed keep the water clean because chickens always scratch and dirty everything. It also lasts for a week before I have to refill it. Same with the feeder I built. Now I only put half an hour a week into maintaining my girls.
    The chickens love it too

  2. My backyard neighbor keeps chickens and loves them. I must say their little clucking is nice to wake up to when we keep the windows open.

  3. My friend keeps chickens in her yard. It’s so much work, but she doesn’t mind and the eggs really are wonderful. I’ll have to share this with her. Nice work!

  4. Its like a shed which is legal. As long as there is no foundation or a full bath. Too much government and architects telling people what they can and cannot do with their homes. Great coop. Don’t love the color choice.

    Jock,

You should of just stopped with your opinion of thinking its not legal. Beyond your scope if the person should worry about it or not!

  5. Ryan, can you also post a photo of the garbage can enclosure you built? I’ve always wanted one of those — one of those Northern California 1970s hippie ones.
