Insane Cable Wires
We just moved to 2nd St and our entire block’s cable wires–and the wires of some neighbors on 3rd St.– traverse across our backyard and hang dangerously low off an unstable, ridiculously installed poll. Not only is it hideous, it’s definitely a child safety issue. Since everyone has different service providers I’m not sure where…

Thanks for sharing. Really good discussion. However, I found http://wireguys.ca on the internet that helps me a lot. Hope it might help people.
hey maybe this is what Sara Palin meant by a “cackle of rads”!
cable boxes have individual ids embedded like a computer’s IP. Unless its in the system as active it won’t bring you anything on the newer digital systems…
oh wait duh youd need a cable box youd have to stop a cable guy on the street and slip him some cash or you can easily find unlocked cable boxes on the internet. i think… it might be more difficult these days than it was in the 90s and 00’s.

oh i say rainstorm because if they happen to be watching cable and it goes out for a few minutes while you do this two minute procedure, they wont suspect anything.

ok at the bright side, during the next big rainstorm, you can steal cable. cut the cable, get a coaxial cutter from any electronics or hardware store and a splitter. wah-lah! instant free cable for you.

thanks everyone. very helpful.
I culled all cables surrounding our house myself. A basic pair of electrician pliers does the trick. We had DirectTV, and CableVision. Cables were all over the house: dangling in front, running on the roof, attached to the sides. You name it. A real bird’s nest.
I removed all coax cables except the one run going from the pole to my house. Then I called the cable company to get connected. I made to sure to be home on the day they came to put the new cable in. Just to coach them…
A friend of mine on 6th Ave tried another technique with success. After complaining and getting nowhere he simply brought the whole thing down. Cable company came to fix it and put everything back the way it was. He did it again; claimed he didn’t know what happened. Finally the cable company rewired everything nicely and move it out of the way.
PS any good pliers with a cutter will work as well. I last used one from a set from IKEA(the whole set was less than $10) but be careful cutting a live telephone/cable line is actually a serious crime…
