We just moved to 2nd St and our entire block’s cable wires–and the wires of some neighbors on 3rd St.– traverse across our backyard and hang dangerously low off an unstable, ridiculously installed poll. Not only is it hideous, it’s definitely a child safety issue. Since everyone has different service providers I’m not sure where to begin to start solving this problem. Any advice?

  1. I agree with IMBY. Two weeks ago I filed a complaint with the PSC. You need to know which are telephone cables and which are cable tv.(cable tv are round with an extra small cable attached- telephone are generally flat). Two separate complaints are needed. I got four lines removed and the one diagonal across was removed…that violates their own rules…. Took a week from complaint to resolution.
What happens with the cable tv is when they have/had a problem they just run a new line and not take down the old they are replacing.

  2. “I like when it’s coming off the roof, down the facade and into the window. Stay classy, Cablevision.”

Time Warner and DirecTV do that too. My landlord flipped out when they were installing satellite to our apartment and they dropped a wire over the front to put cable in those rooms.

  3. all the cables are jumble into my neighbors back yard. but the neighbor didn’t want a direct rout to get cable. the jerk off instead of taking the line directly from his own back yard.

he had to go all along the side of my building and sticks all the messy wire on my side and into his building on the side.

side of my building is full of his wires. even though the damn box is where his back yard is. i thought about cutting all the wires off my building. every time the cable guy comes to install stuff climbs down from side of his building into my yard. very annoying and they always leave garbage behind. could of done it in other guys yard more directly.

same jerk does this with the roof. no dishes on his side of the house. all the dishes are in between the two houses.

  4. Call the cable and phone folks.
They will send someone at sometime and will clean things
    up.
Worked for me…just explain the possibility of thier stuff being damaged, and you getting very pissed off.

  5. it’s like this ALL OVER Brooklyn. Coaxial cable is a dinosaur, man. I like when it’s coming off the roof, down the facade and into the window. Stay classy, Cablevision.
