Considering selling 2 marble mantles and a set of pocket doors from our house. Unsure of exactly how much they might fetch, was looking to lean on the estimating powers of the forum members here for some insight.

Thanks all!

  1. Hi Mixicon, Have you sold the mantles yet? I am interested in the second one, the white & gray one. I tried to email you but it bounced back. Please email me: mimosa626@yahoo.com. If will pay cash. Thank you.

  2. Ok updates with dimensions added, sorry for the delay.

Pocket doors are 33″ x 100″ in pretty decent condition, but could use a sand/refinish.

We actually will likely have a second set of doors that match the pocket doors, but are standard hinged doors, if anyone is interested.

To those mentioning that it will decrease the house, I get what you are saying, but we’re designing the house for us, not for future sales, and we’re looking for a more open space on our parlor and are looking to minimize the walls on that floor. All things being said, I do believe that our renovations will increase value and long-term attract buyer’s as well, perhaps a different taste in the buyer though.

As for removing the mantles, the house has 4 mantles, we’re looking to remove 2 and keep 2. We like them, but we’re looking to manage space and in a 17′ wide house, the impact of 1′ of mantles is appreciable, and our design taste in those rooms is going a different direction as well. All that being said, we’re not 100% sure on selling them, so we may just keep them and find a way to work them in as well (especially if the selling price is inconsequential, which it may well be).

Please feel free to email house@mixicon.com with any questions as well.

    Thanks all!

  3. Hi, I am interested in one of your mantels. I have been looking for one for our pre-war apt. Would you please email me the dimensions? mimosa626@yahoo.com

The difficulty would obviously be getting it out and moving it; I may have a guy who can do it.

  4. Bob said it well.

Also, I just have to add: Those pocket doors are incredibly convenient for controlling noise, heat, and cold. They are really, really great. Super functional. I have never slept so well as in a bedroom with pocket doors closed. Though from the size of yours, I presume this is a parlor.

Our upstairs ones are missing, and as a result the rental apartment rents for $200 a month less because it can only be used by a couple rather than three unrelated roommates.

  5. You’ll be reducing the value of your house by vastly more than whatever you could sell these original details for. You’ll also be doing a great disservice to future owners. That being said, it’s your house and you can do whatever you like, but please consider the consequences.

  6. I’ll get detailed dimensions tomorrow, I do know the max width is 62″ but don’t have the others handy.

The pocket doors are each 33″ wide and 100″ tall.

  7. Have you tried to remove the marble yet? Not a easy process and the marble can easily crack. I wold a similar mantle for $300 when renovating but the buy removed it (took a few hours)
