This may be a stupid question, but I need to know the exact size of the smallest width of a 36 inch corner sink base cabinet. I have to get it through a 30 inch door. Is it possible to turn it in some manner so that it will go through or is it impossible? If it’s impossible does anyone have a suggestion for some sort of work around?

  1. Hi daveinbedstuy,

Corner cabinets (at least a 36 inch one) are much bigger than 26 deep because of their configuration. No way you could get one through a 26 inch door or hallway…

  2. I feel your pain.

I have one right now that came thru a 36″ opening, but a narrow hallway. I suspect it will work.

When I am on site I will measure it in all directions. Bear in mind that the stickey wicket is that the back is cut off on the diagonal, only the countertop goes back into the corner.

  3. Go online. Most cabinet manufacturers will have pdf files of exact specifications of all of their cabinets. The sizes are pretty much standard. Since these cabinets are only 24 or 26″ deep, they can be turned through a 30″ door opening.

  4. Buy a cabinet that you assemble in the kitchen. Not sure if Ikea makes pne with those dimensions but Scherr’s Cabinet and Doors will. Alternatively, you may get one made with adjustable feet and/or with a toe plate/base that you install on-site. The height of the cabinet with out feet and subtracting for the countertop would be right around 30″, allowing you to move it into the room sideways. Scherr’s would work with you to make sure the dimensions are right, even if they pre-assemble and finish it. I have had good luck with them.
