chubb *is* very good about paying out–we just want to see if we can find someone equally good, who is cheaper.
thanks to all–
I went with Chubb because they were actually cheaper (only by a few bucks) than other companies I tried. Got mine through Chuck Chernick (see above) and have had a great experience with him and his people.
As a few people here have stated, Chubb is probably the easiest to deal with when it comes to claims and there is a premium associated with that. However, there are many other companies out there that have decent systems when it comes to claims. It is important to get a finacially stable company and make sure replacement cost is included on your policy. You also have the possibility of an interior inspection from some companies, if the home is rich with custom or original details. If you’d like to see some options, please call me at (718) 745-1500.

I had Chubb as well and found them too expensive because they use much higher valuations and costs per sq foot.
I’m with State farm now…talk to Sylvia in the Fulton Street Office…just google it.
I went with the NY Brick and Brownstone Insurance Program. I was pointed that way by Shari Maggiore of Fairmont Insurance. Here is her info and link to the program which is underwritten by Chartis.

Funny, I actually want to go the chubb way. I am too scared about horror stories around insurance companies paying out.
Anyone actually had a claim paid out by someone like everest/brownstone agency? Any real issues with them?
I just heard if you have chubb and you have a problem, they just cover you, period.
