We are renovating a galley kitchen and are looking for a good counter-depth refrigerator (French doors or side-by-side) and a better-than-average counter-depth gas range with convection oven. So far, we’ve looked at DeLonghi and Bertazzoni (too much $$$) and just the other day, our eyes were caught by the Bosch Evolution 700 Series. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We’re definitely looking for stainless…

  1. Deda: Thanks for the advice — that hadn’t occurred to us. We aren’t in the apartment yet, but we can certainly figure out how/where the gas lines figure into this.

Curious George: Do you have a link to an image of your Jenn-Air? We may be interested although this whole plan is still a few months off, FYI…

Thanks everyone for very helpful posts!

  2. If you ever think of going the direction of a sub-zero, you owe it to yourself to look at the new line of Miele fridges. They are slightly less expensive, and just gorgeous.

We have one with a custom panel and it is just so beautiful.

  3. Honestly… I understand, say, $1500 or $1600 for a very nice fridge. Anything above that, Man o’ Man. You need to start thinking about your life and start searching for meaning.

  4. I’ve got a counter depth Subzero and I frigging love it. It’s bliss to open the heavy door and grab a cold beer. You can’t really appreciate the awesomeness until it’s installed in your kitchen and it’s yours.

  5. Traditional refrigerators are 33″-36″ deep, counter-depth is 30″. You want something that is 30″ including doors and handles. We went to Lowes and bought a Samsung. It is the greatest refrigerator EVER!!! The price wound up about $1600 or $1700. It has a ton of great features (water and ice in-door, wine rack, special means of keeping cold cuts fresh, huge compartments for storage) and it has dreamy LED lighting. Buy it!!!
