I have an empty apartment with poo ground into the wall to wall. Is that why they call it shampooing? Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

I’d get rid of it too. I have several pets and cannot ever have carpeting of any sort! Accidents happen.
and seriously, no offense, but if there was poo there MUST have been pee. youre going to have to either treat the floor underneath anyway (and treating a piss stained floor is very difficult btw. especially if it’s wood), so you might as well rip it up! actually you have to rip it up, or anyone coming to look at the place to rent it is just going to smell the urine anyway!! that wont go away with just shampooing the carpet.
you either had mental defects for tenants or they hated you. and yeah people like that make it hard for other people to find places to live with pets.

Could it just be a patch of tar or mud? Old dried dog poop doesn’t really have much of an odor… so I’m thinking we’ve really gone off the rails here. If it’s actually dog or cat crap (or human for that matter), a scrub brush and some soap would take care of it. If it doesn’t come up with that, it’s probably not shit. It’s probably tar or something of that sort.
I don’t know anyone that can clean that stuff up. I do know a guy who you can pay to shit on all your other carpets.. you know so it’s contextual and shit…
