It’s our first winter in our Park Slope one-family and when the weather got cold enough for the boiler to get cranking, we began hearing a brief accelerating/decelerating dripping noise in the ceiling of our bedroom every time the heat goes on. Lasts maybe 30 seconds and happens every couple of hours. There are two connected radiators directly above the noise, but no visible signs of a leak. I assume it could be in the wall or in the floor, but could the sound be from something else entirely? i bled all the radiators, which seem full of water, not air. The risers are on the opposite wall from the sound.

  1. I happened to hear exactly the same thing this weekend while the plumber who maintains my boiler was there. He said it was expansion of the pipes. Sounds like dripping. There’s no “remedy.”
