I have a feeling I’m going to get pounced on for posting this. You guys can be rough on people. I’m looking for a good sized one bedroom close to Manhattan for $1350. Any apartment hunting suggestions? I know about craigslist. A lot of the apts on there are scams. Rent control would be great since my company is cheap, therefore I’m poor. I know you’re all tired of people moving to Brooklyn, but if it helps my first year living away from home was in Brooklyn 😉 Seriously, I need ot get out of Jersey, please help. Thanks.

  1. You might also try Greenwood Heights/Sunset Park near the D/N/M/R stop at 36th Street. Lots of 2-family housing around there and the express gets you to NYC fast. 3 stops to Union Square on the N.

  2. “Rent control would be great since my company is cheap”. Yeah, winning the lottery would be great too, In fact, you’re odds are actually significantly higher at winning the lottery. Rent control apartments get decontrolled when the tenant moves out unless immediate family moves in. Maybe you mean rent stabalized? That’s possible, about as possible as winning the lottery. Good luck.

  3. You can still get a 1 bedroom (small) around that price in the North Slope near Flatbush Avenue…close to the 2/3 and Q trains. Or just over the border in Prospect Heights. Much closer to Manhattan than Kensington or Clinton Hill. Although both are great hoods, just not as train accessible…
