I have a feeling I’m going to get pounced on for posting this. You guys can be rough on people. I’m looking for a good sized one bedroom close to Manhattan for $1350. Any apartment hunting suggestions? I know about craigslist. A lot of the apts on there are scams. Rent control would be great since my company is cheap, therefore I’m poor. I know you’re all tired of people moving to Brooklyn, but if it helps my first year living away from home was in Brooklyn 😉 Seriously, I need ot get out of Jersey, please help. Thanks.

  1. RE: KENSINGTON, yeah its a neighborhood of various ethnicities and people mind their own business. its quiet not for you if you want noise and merriment. I moved from a crazy neighborhood and I love Kensington..I know the place is not paradise, but where is all this dirt? As stated I live on Ocean Parkway and its lovely especially with the trees in bloom. Oh and I walk to the Q and get to Man. in 1/2 hr. Someone obviously has a bias againt jews/russians..not me I am just happy to have a decent apartment in a decent neighborhood..You want restaurants/merriment go to cortelyou rd or take the bus/train to Park Slope.

  2. If you enjoy the atmosphere of a foreign country Queens could be very interesting. It has cheap culinary delights from all nationalities, friendly folks and it is close to manhattan.
You can’t beat the transportation with all the express buses and trains.

I like brooklyn but too many hipsters and bohemian trust fund babies. moving into the area which is why prices are high.
Some people are very pretentious in the “new brooklyn”
I said pretencious not better educated!

  3. And here I thought I would be the one getting beat up on 😉

Well, thank you all for all of your suggestions. I’m not fan of queens though, I have to be honest. I love BK, it has so much to offer.

btw 12:18 (second post) LOLOLOL, NJ IS where fashion goes to die! Have you seen how Jersy girls dress? Oh boy, you’d think you’ve died and gone to TJ Maxx.

  4. “I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.”

People who say that are so low class. At least one person a thread sticks that exact same sentence in there, and it’s something Paris Hilton would say.

I’m guessing the last “cultural” event you went to was the free Ice Capades ticket your mom got you for your “I’m still single at 40” party.

  5. “Nothing about Queens is hip. It’s a fine place, but it’s not a center for the arts and culture, which is what makes places like Manhattan and then Brooklyn ‘cool'”

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.
