Curbing dogs
I’m amazed at how inconsiderate many people are. Allowing their dogs to urinate on stoops and garbage cans that then have to be cleaned. Is it unreasonable to have the expectation for people to respect the property of others?

I might clean out the garbage can if I were going to use it to mix a punch or something, but generally I put garbage in there so I don’t care if a little piss gets mixed in. Now, when dogs take a leak on personal property such as a scooter or bike or my neighbors tulips, then I agree.
i second the scooter and motorcycle comment! also why do dog owners (btw i have 3) allow dogs to pee on garbage bags waiting for pickup.. are somehow garbage men/women’s hands deserving of a big handful of piss? wtf?
The problem clearly is with dog owners who are renters or live in a large building where the super does everything. No one who owns their own house, or lives in a small coop where they do some things themself, would ever let their pet do something they could conceive of having to clean up themself. This of course begs the question of why some people think it’s OK for the hired help to clean this crap up (literally) but not OK for the owner to have to do it.
Dean Street is right. Many pet owners are inconsiderate and lazy. They let their dogs crap and pee everywhere. It’s really sick. Park Slope parents are angels compared to these pet owners.
On more than one occasion, I’ve been sitting at a window seat in a cafe or restaurant, and I’ve seen dog owners let their pooch take a nice long piss on someone’s covered motorcycle or scooter! As a dog owner myself, it makes me furious! It’s completely disgusting and disrespectful. It’s vandalism, really.
If the garbage can was a 100 year old decrepit mantle, or say a historical garbage can, or a garbage can that was an original detail of your home yes, then we would care.
Dean Street – you walked right into that one. Quit your bit@hing!
You will find no sympathy for your garbage can here.
People should definitely respect the property of others. But weren’t you complaining about dogs?
Have you ever noticed that the cans are often left on their sides after they are emptied by the garbage collectors? Let me guess, you have a dog that you allow to urinate wherever he or she wants. Or maybe you don’t own property.
