We have an alcove space on one of our floors (6×11) that just screams bathroom.
Has anyone added a bathroom from scratch before.
And what was your total cost.
thx

  1. Then you are lucky, Luckier if the vent goes all the way up.

There may even be water risers back there – though unlikely.
The extra bathroom will affect your water pressure. You will have to run a new electrical line from the panel.
With medium grade fixtures/finishes we do similar for about 10 – 13 grand.

  2. As the first reply indicates, the cost will vary widely depending on how far you need to go to bring in water and to reach the sewer. We added a bathroom on the top floor, and the costs varied between $10 and $20K. We had to go a pretty long way, which is why it was so expensive. We thought and thought about the cheapest way to go, and decided that for us, we wouldn’t mind running the lines along the corner of the hall ceiling, then sheetrocking over them. As a result, it was 10k not 20k and it saved us certain disruption to other spaces. If your pipes are right there, you’ll be good to go…Remember, you will have to have the drains from the sink/toilet shower slightly above the connection to the sewer pipe. You may also need to vent through the roof.
