Polished Concrete Floors?
Does anyone know how much it might cost to level an existing cellar floor with concrete and “polish” or “varnish” it? it’s about 600-800 sq. ft. Thanks.

Hi,
I realize that this is an old post, but I just came across it and given some of the above responses, it seems that there is a need.
I do real diamond polished concrete in New York City. I specialize in residential jobs but I also do commercial. I can polish your existing slab, pour and polish a new one, or submit my mix specifications to your contractor for ideal concrete to be then polished by me.
Every job is different and I’m happy to provide a free estimate for your specific job, but the price for polishing an existing 1000+ square foot slab is from $5. – $10./square foot depending on its condition and the results desired.
Rough slabs require grinding before polishing can occur. Hard, dense concrete (5000 psi) takes a polish more readily than lower psi concrete, or concrete poured with a high water content in the mix.

Buscarello doesn’t do ‘real’ polished concrete. He just paints it with a topical sealer.
concretepolishing.org is not very helpful. ConcreteNetwork.com is much more informative. They even provide a list of contractor who will NOT polish your floor. It is very hard to find someone who will do small residential jobs. They have enough jobs from high paying stores/resturants. Also, if you have any stairs, you will meet even more resistance.
Good luck. I’ll post again if I ever find someone.
By the way, if you’re looking to start your own business, I have an idea…
Marie,
Do you mind sharing your quote from Buscarello for 1000 sq ft of polished concrete? Thanks!
Hey,
Some good comments above. Come check out
concretepolishing.org… There is lots of info there
on pricing and getting started.

Very nice!
I’m wondering who did your steel staircase, and what it cost?
Thanks!
OK, James Buscarello must be the same guy. They are located in Red Hook and the number is (718) 625-7638.
Thanks for the info, moderin in CG!
I’ve googled, but I keep hitting a conrete contractor named James Buscarello in Brooklyn instead. Could he be the same person? If I find his number, I’ll post it here for other people to see!

Modern in CG – I love you what you did too!! Do you still have the contractor’s phone#? And may I ask how big the space was? I’m planning to do the same thing, but my cellar is about 1000sqft.
