Does anyone know how much it might cost to level an existing cellar floor with concrete and “polish” or “varnish” it? it’s about 600-800 sq. ft. Thanks.

  1. ok, it sounds like you need 5-8 yards of concrete depending on what thickness you want your slab to be. Concrete is running about $85yd. make sure it’s at least a 3,000lb/ 3/4 mix.
Polishing is just another added expense. As long as the finishers do a good job, you can skip the polishing, if this is for your basement, make sure your contractor has the floor cut with a diamond blade. This will relieve tension and buckling in your floor and keep it from cracking. Have your contractor remove the most unleveled portion of the floor to save money if that’s your case. It will have to be jack hammered out.

  7. I’ve got a mystery that maybe some of you might help solve. I’m working on a townhouse in the downtown area. i discovered that a small door from the cellar leads to a cistern like room below grade in the back york. i can’t figure out what it is. a 12′ tunnel, brick lined, leads to a 8′ diameter room about 8′ high with a domed ceiling. at the top of the ceiling there’s small opening at the heighest point in the ceiling. so, i thought maybe some type of stoarge – but what?

  8. The Concrete Impressionist said our cellar job was too small. A1 TriState quoted us $7000 – polishing only! Add that to $7000 for someone else to pour the slab. Those were from theconcretenetwork.com

  9. Modern in cg, I think your place looks great! Our house is a mirror of yours and we are trying to do all the same things you did. I have some questions about your polished floor and also your windows and doors. If you have the time, please email me

    Thanks.
