Can anybody recommend an expeditor who handles HPD violations on a townhouse in Manhattan?

Thanks.

  1. You should also make sure you comply with the new regulations that are in place as of this month, and make sure when inspector comes, he will not find new violations.

According to what your violation(s) are, you may need an architect or engineer to make sure your corrections are up to the state they need to be.

    Historical Districts may have requirements.

  3. You don’t need to hire anyone. Go to nyc.org you can download your violations and fill out form and set up appointment with inspector to remove violations. Make sure you list all violations they will only remove what you listed.
The only drawback they will not give you specific time only date. Its easy .

    Good luck

  4. Permits that were are were not issued should be on record, as well as the violation and the work specified before the violation can be cleared.

The website lists violators on the nyc.gov page. It’s a lot of information, integrated into other government sites.

The website is getting upgrades on a daily basis.
It’s late and I am just returning your post, but I’ll check back to see if you still need assistance.

    Good luck. Deborah.

  6. Stephen, the City Government site department of buildings list people who have been disqualified to handle permitting, c of o, etc.

There are new changes in place. Depending on how many permits were in question. For each violation there is a $1,000 – 5,000 fee, plus the cost of the permits to clear it up.

The owner is responsible for clearing up issues with HPD. Even if illegal work was completed in your building, the owner bears all responsibility and it can get expensive.

It is something you can handle yourself provided you have the time, charisma and energy to deal with the folk in HPD.

  7. removing HPD violations is actually
one of the few things that you should be
able to do yourself. It doesn’t involve the
DOB at all, typically. If the violations
are now moot, you just need to send in
your $300 in the address listed on their
website, with the form that you will find
there, and a few months later someone will
schedule an appt with you… if all is well,
violations will be removed a few weeks later.
    that’s what I did.

  8. I can help you if you cannot find anyone.
HPD violations as well permitting violations procedures have recently changed.

Also make sure the person listed above and her recommendation have not been disqualified by
    the city for violations.
