The City has struck out in the latest round of its efforts to condemn a prime piece of land on the Williamsburg waterfront where it wants to put a park. Keeping in the fine tradition of the neighborhood being a repository for industrial services, a judge ruled that city cannot circumvent a state board that is studying whether a 1,100-megawatt plant is needed on the waterfront at Kent Ave. and N. 12th St. The future of the 8-acre plot is of keen interest to residents and developers alike given the building boom that will be occurring on the waterfront over the next several years. “It’s like Dracula; it keeps rising from the dead and the person with the silver bullet who can kill it is Pataki,” said enemy-of-landmarks David Yassky (D-Williamsburg) of the plant. “He has refused to fire that shot.” Pataki’s office did not return calls for comment.
