  1. How about…
    – Replacing the Gowanus expressway with a tunnel
    – Building BRT bus system to serve neighborhoods in Brooklyn that are under served by
    public transportation
    -Building the JFK-lower Manhattan rail link AND providing a stop in Brooklyn
    -Building a Hudson river rail tunnel to reduce truck traffic
    -Building schools to replace the trailers that serve as classrooms for public schools
    -Fixing the elevators in public housing
    -Remediating the Gowanus Canal

    In addition, federal dollars from the stimulus bill should not be used to build a facility that would take jobs away from one state and relocate them to another state.

  2. I really don’t know- haven’t researched. But ratner’s AY is far from shovel ready. How about we fix the subways and roads and streetlamps first? There are subway stations falling down around us- add jobs for people who can help fixs and upgrade them.

  3. Examples of other “shovel-ready” projects in Brooklyn, bxgirl? I’ve long been agnostic on Atlantic Yards, but if we’re trying to kill the project, we need real alternatives for job creation.

  4. It creates construction jobs- which yes, we do need. But there are plenty of other places to spend stimulus money to create jobs for other people as well, and not reward Ratner for being a greedy sob.
