111 Kent Development Changes Hands

111 Kent Avenue disappeared into oblivion for awhile; the last time we checked, which was in March 2009, there were only nine (out of 62) units available and no recorded sales. And although the 111 Kent website is still up, there’ve been no live listings for awhile. Maybe that will change soon: Last week the development was sold to a new owner. ACRIS shows the sale of 117 Kent (the official address), recorded on November 17th, for a whopping $43,635,540.69. The buyer was a company called the Garrison Investment Group. Anyone know anything about them?

I heard the new owner and his brother/investor are going to live in two of the nicest units in the project.
“(but blocked by the summer concert stage, I guess!).”
not sure if the stage would block the views from this bldg – this year the stage was mostly behind that weird brick building across the street.
i predict they’ll do away with/find a different spot for those concerts.
I’m with DH on the brick, but if you lived there, you wouldn’t have to look at the brick. You would get to look at your great views – protected by the state park immediately across the street (but blocked by the summer concert stage, I guess!).
Wine Lover – I agree with everyone you said except the brick. The color looks absolutely horrendous (especially now that’s it’s in disrepair) – i think it would have look much better if it was closer to the color at 80 Met.
(reddish brown brick and blue reflective windows?? huh?)
this is a great location. no clue about the layouts or quality, but would think that the location alone would bring in foot traffic. if it’s decent on the inside and priced right, this will sell. It’s not such a big building like edge, nsp 1 and 2, but has the same views. for people who don’t like high-rises, but want the vistas, this could be really attractive. i think the size of the building is a big plus for it in general.
i like the color of the brick, and i guess the triangular floor to ceiling windows provide better views (even on the side street) and good light, so i don’t think it’s as bad as it’s made out to be here. in any case, there’s a world of people outside of brownstoner who may not think that the exterior is as awful.
Hopefully they will knock it down and build something beautiful. That is the best location, right opposite the park. Awful building.
According to NYS Department of State’s website, it’s a Foreign Liability Company
thank god – this thing could have been cool but looks like absolute shite right now.
