Yesterday Mayor Bloomberg announced a deal to turn a parking lot in Flushing into a flashy multi-use development to include 500 residential units, 350,000 square feet of retail space, a multi-screen movie house, a recreation center, restaurants, a 2,000-car underground parking garage and a 200-room hotel. On cue, several neighborhood groups rose up in protest….

On cue, several neighborhood groups rose up in protest. Of particular concern: the area’s ability to absorb the increased traffic and parking demands.

The anti-development crowd strikes again. This time to preserve a parking lot!! Hilarious. Let’s see, the a-d crowd is against the development of a stadium, retail space, museums, universities, restaurants, housing…..
Maybe we should all be against good schools, police and fire depts, and clean public parks b/c, you know, that stuff pushes up land values and leads to gentrification.
No slanted buildings here though.
