Yikes. This new addition to Park Slope has gone through a lot of trouble to get to this point. According to the DOB, 292 7th Street has had three full stop work orders (one still in effect) as well as four partial stop work orders since March. Seems like they’ve had some trouble getting the rear balconies up to code. When all is said and done, this sign says we can expect a “four-story penthouse building” with four condo units. While the aesthetics aren’t doing much for us, it’s nice to see the facades and roof lines lining up.

  1. I don’t know what goes through some developers/architects/designers heads when they are designing these buildings!- I think wierd windows are one of the biggest turn offs a house or building can have. What made them say- “Hey I don’t want normal windows I want something wierd and ugly to attract potential buyers with bad taste”?

  2. > Maybe it looks better in person.

No, not really. I’ve seen worse, but that’s about the best that can be said for it.

Mr B – Have you covered the building to the right? It used to be a cute carriage house, but now it’s been built up a couple more stories, with most of the charm being lost in the process.

  3. While a smidge on the ugmo side, IMO, at least they are only putting in 4 residences for the 4 floors as opposed to those developments that cram in 8-10 residences in the same size. I dare say the layouts on these have the potential to not be downright stupid. May not happen, but the possibility is there. Down with the 10×12 LKDR!

  4. This building would be ok if the brick were a different color and they used one or two panes of glass for each window instead of what looks like at least 9 each. Fortunately time will take care of that brick color. Not so sure much can be done about those windows.

Maybe it looks better in person.
