City Planning posted a bunch of details and graphics about the proposed Coney Island rezoning on its website last Friday. Basically, DCP’s plan breaks the area down into three zones: a five-block Coney North district that would be mostly residential and include around 1,800 new housing units; a five-block Coney West district on the current KeySpan Park parking lots that would be rezoned to allow for 2,700 units of housing and a public park; and Coney East, the heart of the amusement and entertainment district. More info here and here. Do you think Bloomberg’s on the right track?
